BackTrack Mobile Beta Release: July 2010
We are proud to announce that we are finally approaching a beta release of the first BackTrack Mobile operating system for the Nokia N900! The release will be public shortly before the Blackhat and Defcon
conferences in July 2010.
We will provide a list of features and download instructions on our site and to those that have subscribed to the email update list once the beta is completed.
You can expect fully supported packet injection using the internal wl12xx (wl1251) driver with this release. And to reiterate our intentions, this project will be 100% free to download! More
The Cyber War Threat Has Been Grossly Exaggerated (Washington DC) | Intelligence Squared US
Interesting debate – it starts off all over the road but eventually gets to the point – that even though our new Cyber Czar talks about making us more secure, the policies he is pushing are not secure software, and not about shaking up an industry that perpetuates the problem. Instead they’re about establishing power for the government.
There’s also a great part in here where Mike McConnell says something about such powers having accountability behind them – much to the chagrin of the audience who DOES still remember the Bush administration. Turns out, the legislation he’s trying to push was something he was working on when he was at NSA, UNDER the Bush administration. More
Highly Critical XSS Vulnerability Discovered in YouTube

It seems as though 4chan’s attack on Justin Bieber has been cranked up a notch, as in the past hour 4chan have targeted his YouTube videos.
The Next Web reports that several of Justin Bieber’s videos have been affected by a redirect hack which leads to different explicit videos and abuse, even going as far as to claim the star has passed away. They also found a comment on the 4chan boards which basically claims that a member was responsible for the hacks.
The hacks seem to be originating from the comments section on YouTube’s videos, users posting malicious code inside marquee tags. YouTube of course has begun to take action to stop these attacks by blocking the malicious comments.
This news is followed by 4chan’s recent attempt to send Justin Bieber to North Korea for his next tour More
Major Step Ahead for Cryptography
Imagine you could work out the answer to a question, without knowing what the question was. For example, suppose someone thinks of two numbers and then asks another person to work out their sum, without letting them know what the two numbers are. However, they are given an encryption of the two numbers but not told how to decrypt them.
Nigel Smart, Professor of Cryptology in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bristol, will present a paper in Paris May 26, which makes a step towards a fully practical system to compute on encrypted data. The work could have wide ranging impact on areas as diverse as database access, electronic auctions and electronic voting.
Professor Smart said: “We will present a major improvement on a recent encryption scheme invented by IBM in 2009.” More
